About Ernesto

Senior Graphic Designer & Visual Information Specialist
Washington, D.C. / Baltimore area

I'm a Senior Graphic Designer and Visual Information Specialist with 15+ years of experience supporting federal, healthcare, and science-focused organizations. I most recently led design and production at the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) at the National Institutes of Health, where I produced 100+ creative assets annually across digital, print, video, and motion — partnering with scientists, subject matter experts, and senior leadership to translate complex genomic research into clear, accessible visuals.

What I do

My work spans concept-to-completion design and production: digital and print campaigns, multimedia content, motion graphics, infographics, video, photography, and web content. I bring together creative direction, technical execution, and a deep understanding of how scientific and federal audiences consume information.

How I work

I thrive at the intersection of science and design. My favorite projects have been the ones where a researcher walks me through a complex genomic concept and we figure out together how to make it visual. Whether that becomes an infographic, a 30-second motion piece, a vertical reel for Instagram, or a slide a director uses on the road, strong design is collaborative, audience-aware, and accountable to the truth of the work it represents.
